Crash, agree with you wholeheartedly. I don't like greedy owners moving their teams around like that. Nothing more than carpetbaggers, IMO.
More funny names: I believe, though I've never verified, that the inventer of the flush toilet was Thomas Crapper. However, there's no truth to the rumor that the inventer of the brasiere was a man named Otto Tittsling.

Some of the time when I post a reply here I can read the whole topic in the area below the message screen, without html apparently, underneath- that is very useful when I want to make sure I'm responding correctly. But other times, the topic is not there. Is there a way to make sure it is there everytime?
And back to football, as I said above Professional football is not a game! It is a business, and a business wants to make as much money as it can. I think that if one has experienced one's own football team skulking off in the middle of the night- which is exactly what happened with the Baltimore Colts, it is a true eye-opener.

B ? you go girl! As for me, I didn?t watch the Super Bowl. Instead, I opted to go see the movie ?Shadow of the Vampire?. There was hardly anyone there. Great flick!

When my sister went to Europe she brought back fine gifts for the family ? except for me. She bought me a key chain that had ?Gut fahrt? (Good driving or traveling). She said she thought of me when she saw it.
Jandy I have to agree with you. I refuse to root for any team that has left its home city. There was no reason for Modell to move the team from Clevland. He had a great fan base and was making a nice little profit.
I was dissatisfied with last years victors, the Rams (Moved from LA) and this years, the Ravens (moved from Cleavland to Baltimore).
The people of Balitmore should know better, after all they lost the Colts to Indianapolis in the 1970's
I saw a documentary on plumbing (Go History Channel!) that Thomas Crapper didnt invent the flush toilet, it had been around for many years, but he first sold the version we all know and hate to clean.

I choose to follow College Sports more so then professional sports. 1) it is fun to watch the young men and women grow and develop their skills 2) the players are paid significantly less and most are playing because they love the game and because they are receiving an education. Mind you, I am well aware that the top players in the country are banking on recieivng millions later and many are making money on the side but that is a small percentage of the players 3) The intensity of the game is amazing. 4) The rivalries are real (I graduated from Michigan State University. You don't think I am loving the fact theat MSU's mens basketball squad has been pounding the crud out of UM for the last three years?) 5) I can count on the team being there every year. The players change but I know that the MSU Spartans are going to be in East Lansing 50 years from now.
The Professional game has forgotten the fans. The very notion that some one like Art Modell is seen as a hero in Baltimore right now disgusts me. It was his choice to move his team, no doubt about that, but that does not mean I have to support someone who is willing to ignore all the support and money that the fans in Clevland gave him.
The Raiders move makes more sense, as does the Rams. The people in LA will only support a team that is in contention for the Championship every year. I used to got o the Clippers games to watch the Celtics play, and there would be more Celtics fans in attendence then Clipper fans. Same for the football teams. If the city will not support a team, even when they go through a period of time when they suck, then moving makes some sense to me. I don't like it, but at least it makes sense.
OK, so I am a sports fanatic with a weeeeee bit too much time on my hands. (grins)
Needless to say, the past two Super Bowls have been non events for me. Considering the fact that the ratings in all professional sporting events have been down, as are ticket sales, I would say that I am not the only one to feel this way.
